CONNNECTING PNG TO THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Papua New Guinea is one of the world's fastest growing economies, averaging 5.4% GDP growth per annum over the past 10 years, and with predicted GDP growth of 8% in 2012.

Over the next few years, however, it will require significant international investment and expertise in areas such as infrastructure, health, education and business services if it is to maintain this growth and deliver development benefits to its youthful and growing population.

The Papua New Guinea Advantage 2012 conference is dedicated entirely to the promotion of business and investment in PNG. Over two days it will:

  1. Showcase specific areas of opportunity where international and domestic businesses could contribute in a meaningful and sustainable way in the development of PNG.
  2. Provide a forum in which they can meet prospective local and international partners (local entrepreneurs, super funds, banks, fund managers, landowner companies, multilateral/donor agencies, facilitators and service providers).
  3. Send a strong message to the international business community and media that PNG is 'open for business' and raise international awareness of PNG's economic achievements.

CONTENT/SPEAKERS

A coherent program will combine leading PNG-based presenters, from both the business and government spheres, with selected international speakers to present PNG in an international context. Panel sessions will be included to ensure the content has maximum relevance.

The event will focus upon likely areas of major opportunity in PNG over the next decade, with a heavy emphasis on regional opportunities, and an entire day dedicated to opportunities in infrastructure.

  • Major infrastructure projects
  • Telecommunications & IT services
  • Business services
  • Health and education
  • Retail
  • Agribusiness, fisheries and related downstream processing
  • Renewable energy
  • Focus on PNG's provinces

The conference will be co-hosted by the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Business Advantage International.

VENUE/ACCOMMODATION

The event will take place at The Gateway Hotel, adjacent to Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Due to capacity constraints and our desire for delegates to have the best possible experience, numbers will be strictly limited.

A second official accommodation provider will be Airways Hotel, located next door.

Dedicated liaison officers will be on hand during the event to provide practical assistance to international delegates.
